Najia Fatima

Born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan

Lives & works in New York, USA.

I am an interdisciplinary artist, designer and a writer, and a graduate of Columbia University, School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation with an undergraduate from the University of Toronto. I have produced a collection of award-winning visual, performance, installation and photography projects. I have been an editor and a writer, currently holding a research position that allows depth of knowledge when producing visual and written projects.

My art engages the discourse of militarization and colonialism in contemporary South Asian politics. It delves into themes of occupation, displacement and geo-political tensions. Through a critical lens I believe my art can diversify avenues of thinking employed by mainstream understanding of South Asian bodies.
